תקציר:
חברות לא שגרתית נרקמת בין המלכה ויקטוריה (ג'ודי דנץ', המעולה כרגיל) ופקיד הודי צעיר בשם עבדול קרים (עלי פזאל).
המלכה, הקרבה לסוף חייה, מתחילה למאוס בניתוק שבצמרת וכשהיא פוגשת בעבדול שנשלח מהודו כדי להעניק לה מתנת "מוהר" לרגל חגיגות יובל הזהב למלכה, שהיא גם קיסרית הודו הראשונה - היא מגלה קול רענן עם כנות מפתיעה ומחליטה למנות אותו למורה פרטי לתורת האיסלאם.
בעוד המלכה מתקרבת יותר ויותר לעבדול ומגלה דבר או שניים על התרבות ההודית ועל נזקי הקולוניאליזם, מקורביה של המלכה, בראשם בנה ברטי (אדי איזרד) וראש הממשלה (מייקל גמבון), נכנסים לפאניקה ומנסים לפרום את הקשר ההולך ומתהדק.
